What is the eccentricity of the ellipse if its major axis is twice its minor axis?

    given major axis is four times its minor axis. so a=4b

    eccentricity, e = square root of (a^2-b^2) / a

    = square root of ((4b) ^2-b^2) / (4b)

    = square root of (15b^2) / (4b)

    = √15 b / (4b)

    = √15/4 = 0.968
