The Wizard of Oz is trying to make a quick escape in his hot air balloon. If the net force on the balloon remains constant, what happens as he throws sand bags out of the balloon's basket?

A. The mass of the balloon increases.

B. The balloon rises at a faster and faster rate.

C. Both the net force and the acceleration increase.

    When you drop a weight, the buoyancy of the balloon increases. This will cause the upward velocity to increase until the drag on the balloon matches the new buoyancy. So out of your options it should be b.
