Due to different energies and wavelengths

    Explanation:

Each and every element has a different atomic structure. Thus it emits different wavelengths of light, when excited to higher energy levels. These light rays having different wavelengths are responsible for different colors.

This phenomenon is easily observable while looking ata the flames produced by different elements, while burning.
