Technician A says that a good relay should measure between 60 ohms and 100 ohms across the coil terminals. Technician B says that OL should be displayed on an ohmmeter when touching terminals 30 and 87. Which technician is correct?

    Both technicians are correct.

    Explanation:

    A working coil in a relay can measure resistance between 50 an 200 ohms.

    And the terminals in a Relay are the next, considering the German International Automotive industry standard DIN 72552:

    85 Coil

    86 Coil

    87 NO Normally open

    30 Common

    So Measuring between terminal 30 and 87 must be an open circuit, and the ohmmeter must show infinite resistance or "OL".
