A student conducts and investigation to determine a ball's mass, displacement, velocity and acceleration. (A) Identify each of the following as wither a vector or scalar quantity: Mass, Displacement, Velocity & Acceleration. (B) Describe how vector quantities are different from scalar quantities. (C) The ball starts from rest and is set in motion of 5 m/s. it rolls for 5 seconds before crossing the finish line. What is the acceleration?

    acceleration = 1 m/s²

    Explanation:

    A) Mass = Scalar, Displacement = Vector quantity, Velocity = Vector quantity, Acceleration = Velocity

    B) Vector quantities are quantities that have both magnitude and direction while scalar quantities are quantities that have only magnitude and but no direction.

    c) From the first equation of motion, v = u + at

    since the object starts from rest, u = 0 m/s

    time, t = 5 seconds

    5 = 0 + 5a

    a = 5/5

    a = 1 m/s²
