    Energy from electromagnetic waves is one that results due to the effects of magnetic field and electric field. The fields interact to create a force and a charge. For example, the energy produced in a microwave for heating food.

    Energy caused by changes in the structure of a nucleus is called nuclear energy. This occurs when there are reactions in an atom of specific elements. Fusion is a type of nuclear energy where the reacting particles combine to form a larger particle. In this case, the energy will be experienced as light and heat. Fission is a type of nuclear energy where an atom divides to form two smaller atoms thus releasing huge amounts of energy in form of light and heat.

    Energy resulting from movement and vibration of molecules is called thermal energy. It is formed when there is vibration and movements of molecules. This process creates internal energy, where the more the vibrations, the higher the internal energy. For example in Geothermal energy, thermal energy released is contained in the rocks and hot fluids present beneath the earth.

    Energy an object has because of its position is called the potential energy. This is the energy stored in an object due to its position and shape. Because the force of gravity acts on objects, this energy is referred as gravitational potential energy and is expressed as;

    GPE=weight*height in Newton. meter (N. m) or joule (J)
