If an object is violet, what wavelengths of light are being absorbed by the object?

All wavelengths but violet

    We see a particular color because that color/wavelength of light bounces off the object and gets into our eyes. Every other color/wavelength is absorbed by the material. Usually the energy is converted to heat.
