    True. gases don't have a definite shape or volume (they will completely fill a container they are in as the particles are not bound to one another), liquids will spread to fill the base of a container but will not change volume (the particles are loosely bound together, still allowing for some movement), a solid has a definite shape and volume (the particles are closely bound together in a rigid structure and only have enough room to vibrate).
