According to Newton's first law, an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force. This means that in terms of acceleration, unless there is an external force acted upon by the body, it will either stay at rest or continue in uniform motion, and acceleration is zero in both cases. Thus only objects which have any magnitude of acceleration, will experience a change in their motion
