    If the waves are in phase, then the peaks will coincide as well as the troughs. Waves have an additive nature so the peaks will add with the peaks, and troughs with troughs. This makes the wave amplitude bigger (the sum of the two peaks) These waves are said to constructively interfere (constructive interference)
