If the net force on an object is in a negative direction what will the direction of the resulting acceleration be?

    The resulting acceleration will also be negative because force = mass*acceleration, and mass can't be negative, so acceleration is what makes the force negative.

    -Force = mass * - acceleration

    Acceleration is always in the direction of the net force.
