    The correct option is A.

    In the nucleus of an atom, the nuclear force, which bind the protons together is very strong and powerful at short distances. The repulsive electrostatic force, which exist between the protons is comparatively weaker. But as the distance of the atom shells increases, the nuclear force becomes weaker while the electrostatic force becomes stronger.
