Why did the colonists choose to start the Boston massacre?

    It was because they were protesting the occupation of their city by British troops, who were sent to Boston in 1768 to enforce unpopular taxation measures passed by a British parliament that lacked American representation. They didn't like being controlled and taxed, therefore, they fought by protesting at first, but it led to a Massacre where many died.
