Institutions like jails, mental hospitals, and public schools were inspired by the conviction that those who passed through their doors could eventually be released to become productive, self-disciplined citizens. True or false?

    That statement is true

    Explanation:

    Those type of establishment usually have their own program that they believe to be effective to change the overall behavior of the people that come into the establishment. (more productive, more discipline, wouldn't repeat bad behaviors, etc)

    But this couldn't be further than the truth.

    The programs that these establishment create usually very ineffective. For example, the number of ex-inmates who get caught doing the same crime again are more than 70% within 5-years after they're set free.
