    In the Athenian justice system, the trials were, in general, a dialectic struggle between two people, the accuser and the accused, the better speech was who convinced the jury. The penalties they applied were: death sentence in case of murder; banishment and confiscation, in case of injuries. There were also cases of involuntary manslaughter, instigation of murder, and homicide in self-defense.
