lobbyists are people whose business is trying to influence legislation, regulation, or other government decisions, actions, or policies on behalf of a group or individual who hires them. Individuals and nonprofit organizations can also lobby as an act of volunteering or as a small part of their normal job. A lobbyist is an individual hired by a business or a cause to persuade legislators to support that business or cause. They are paid to win favor from politicians. For instance if a lobbyist wants action on a bill, a legislator wants to be re-elected. The idea is to persuade a legislator that what the lobbyist wants is good public policy. Lobbyists often urge or influence lawmakers to try to persuade other lawmakers to approve a bill.
