The media are very powerful entities that influence how a particular population understands an event or a situation of society. They are responsible for framing the news in ways that are relevant and understandable for the population at large. However, they do not always perform this job well, for several reasons.

One of these reasons is the fact that the media is a private pursuit, which means that they are always in need of profit. This fact leads them to try to sell newspapers, magazines, etc. and thus have an incentive to be as dramatic and attractive as possible, sometimes leading to the manipulation of facts.

However, there are situations in which the media are effective and necessary. They allow us to be informed in real time due to the use of technology. Moreover, they are able to access important information from our public officials.

It is always important to remember that the performance of the media is not always perfect, and that readers also have a responsibility to research and question everything that they read.
