Most people in Israel, and its neighbors, differ from political extremists such as terrorists because many of these people want peace and abhor the violence that have impacted civilian lives. Many political extremist believe that violence and terrorism are legitimate ways to gain political and social advantage.

Israel defines itself as a Jewish-democratic region and most of these people and their neighbors regard the area as "holy land". The area is populated with relics, temples, and other religious artifacts that are constantly in danger from desecration (or damage).
