    Polar region - the Earth's frigid zones which surround the geographical poles (the North and South Poles

    Subpolar region - the region in the Northern Hemisphere

    They are characterized with average temperature of less than 10 °C, lack of warm summers, the sun shines for long hours in the summer, and for many fewer hours in the winter.

    The southern part of the Alaska (sub polar) tend to be a little bit warmer compared to the polar region that is located in the northern region.

    This situation is created because the northern part of Alaska is a lot closer to the north pole, where the temperature is usually below 0 degrees celsius
