A patient is receiving 275 ml of 20% lipids. how many calories is the patient receiving from the lipids? (answer must be numeric; no units or commas; round final answer to the nearest whole number.)

    To determine the amount of kilocalories supplied by 20% lipid, the volume of 20% lipid (in ml) is multiplied by 2.0.

    (If it were to be 10% lipid, the amount of kilocalories supplied will be calculated by multiplying the volume of 10% lipid (in ml) by 1.1)

    Therefore, 275 ml of 20% lipids will supply 275 x 2.0 kilocalories

    Answer: 550 kilocalories
