A difference in structure occurs because that structure allows the organism to grow and reproduce at a higher rate, but that may not be the case in all areas. for example, a cactus had to adapt to living without water for many months in the dessert, but that is not the same as plants in the rainforest. so, these different structures promote biodiversity by allowing each organism to flourish according to their respective environment.
