    d. nominal damages

    Explanation:

Nominal damages award refers to awards given if the plaintiff has been unfairly violated and his rights have been violated, but no damages or financial damages have been inflicted. Here Max is under contract breach because Lou did not complete his work on the scheduled date, which led to Lee being sued for missing the due date. Although he suffered no damages from Lou's action, the court awarded him a nominal damages despite the breach of his contract. so as per given, Max suffer no loss because of Lew has delay while doing painting to house and when he decide to sue then he awardas nominal damage to contract breach
