Why did the obama administration want to get a vast new domestic stimulus bill through congress?

The administration of President Barack Obama wanted to get a vast new domestic stimulus bill through congress in order to create more job opportunities and improve job security in the United States despite the economic crisis that hit the country. The goal of the bill was the saving or creating 2.5 million jobs.
