Example equation: 3^2+4^2=C^2.

If we simplify this, the equation turns into 9+16=C^2.

If we simplify this even more, you get 25=C^2.

Then you have to figure out what number can stand in as C. In this case, C is 5 because 5^2 is 25. Therefore, 25=25, and C=5.

Not all numbers can be made to follow the pythagorean rule.
